Bread Crumbs is an awareness tool for a temporary outing. It cannot guarantee continuous cellular, Wi-Fi, GPS, CloudKit, or internet availability.
Safety & limitations

Bread Crumbs adds a little awareness around the time you're out. Use it alongside the people, preparation, and services you already trust.
Last reported is not always current
A guardian sees the most recently reported location, which may be stale if the phone cannot get a location or send an update.
Route gaps stay gaps
Bread Crumbs draws route lines only between usable, continuous location reports. If tracking stops or a report is not reliable enough for trail geometry, the map shows a gap instead of inventing travel between two places.
Trace Back follows recorded evidence
Trace Back uses the current trip’s recorded trail to help you retrace toward Start. It is not turn-by-turn navigation, does not judge whether a road or trail is safe, and cannot fill an unrecorded gap.
Possible Incident is not fall detection
Possible Incident is not medically validated fall detection and cannot guarantee that an accident, injury, or other event will be recognized.
Not emergency services
Bread Crumbs does not replace emergency services, Emergency SOS, a charged phone, preparation, or your own judgment. Apple’s Emergency SOS remains independent of Bread Crumbs.
People and plans still matter
Tell trusted people about your outing and plan. Consider your route, weather, battery, connectivity, and the people who may need to check in.
Keep the app available
During an active safety session, do not force-quit Bread Crumbs from the app switcher. Force-quitting prevents iOS from relaunching the app for background location until the app is opened again.
Before an outing
Share your plan with someone you trust.
Set an expected end, make sure your battery is in good shape, and let your trusted people know how to reach you outside of Bread Crumbs if plans change.
